Biblical Reasons

In the last issue of the Academy News, I shared with you Biblical reasons for sending children to a Christian school taken from a book I read some time ago. Dr. Gruden gave six Biblical principles which were foundational to his decision to provide Christian education for his own children. I shared three of six principles last time, allow me to share the final three today.
4. Every teachers pattern of life should be worthy of imitation. "Everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher." (Luke 6:40)
5. Only God-centered education gives true wisdom. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." (Psalm 111:10)
6. Christian Schooling is the best hope for a transforming society. "You are the salt of the earth… you are the light of the world." (Matt. 5:13-14)

I trust that you will think on these Biblical truths and as a result reaffirm in your own mind, as I did, the blessing of Christ-centered education in the life of your child and your family.

Westlake Christian Academy's Mission Statement:
To provide for Christian families a Christ-centered education that                                                   challenges students to honor Jesus Christ in thought, word and deed.

Reminders from
the Office

School Closing            Information

Absences/Late Arrivals
If a student needs to leave school early for an appointment or for any other reason, please send a note, and have them bring the note to the office as soon as they get here in the morning.  We will give them a pass for their teacher, and they will be waiting for you in the office at the time you specify in the note.
Elementary parents, if your child will be arriving after 8:25 am, please come to the office to sign your student in, and then they will receive a pass to class.
A Cold Weather Reminder…
We will continue to go outside for recess unless the temperature is below 10 degrees with or without the wind-chill. It is very important that every child have the appropriate cold weather clothing. Please be sure to send a winter coat, hat, gloves, snow pants, boots and any other warm clothing your child may need to class each day.  Students who forget their winter clothing will continue to go outside, but will not be allowed to play in the snow. If your child is too sick to be outside at recess, he/she should be kept home.
Season for Illness…
Please remember that your child may not be brought to school if the following symptoms are present:

  • A temperature of 99.8 degrees F or more (your child must be temperature free for 24 hours before returning to school)
  • Diarrhea or vomiting
  • Discharge from eyes, ears, or unusual nasal discharge
  • A rash
  • Severe coughing
Thank you!
*Please note a Fever is 99.8 degrees F by oral thermometer. Fever must be gone for 24 hours
without medication, before a child may return to school.
