bazaarWCA Parents Association presents the 2nd Annual Holiday Bazaar will feature over 20 vendors, local artisans, homemade products and concessions. Be sure to stop by the WCA gym to shop and enjoy the sights and sounds of the upcoming holiday season.

 

ELF HOLIDAY TREASURE STORE

A one of a kind Elf Holiday Treasure Store will be featured during the Bazaar!! This will be a place for children to shop ‘on their own’ and experience the joy of choosing their own special holiday gift for a family member or friend. Gifts are moderately priced from $5 to $12 but there are many options under $5 as well. We will have a holiday shopper available to help them with their purchases.

Elementary parents, be on the lookout for a flyer to help your child plan their purchases.

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Are you wondering how you can help? We have many opportunities including but not limited to, greeting our guests at the door, selling raffle tickets, cleaning up after the event and advertising our event. If you aren’t able to volunteer would you consider helping us spread the word? One of the easiest ways to get the word out is by telling your family and friends by email or by sharing it on social media.

 

Picture Day

  • Picture day is a dress-UP day –
  • Uniforms are not required
  • It is expected that students wear their “picture-best”
  • Jeans and t-shirts are not “picture best”
  • As always, attire must be modest and neat.
  • Skirt/dress length must be to the kneecap or longer!
  • Parents will be called to bring a change of clothing if there is a question with their child’s attire.

  • All full-time students will have individual photos taken (even if they are not ordering pictures), followed by a class photo.
  • Additional student picture order forms are available in the school office.
  • Individual student photos will start at the beginning of the school day – early elementary will go first, followed by 1st through 12th grades successively.
  • Tu/Th Preschool students (3 year olds) will have the opportunity to come for picture day on Monday, too! Parents, bring your child straight to the gym at 8:50 a.m. and wait with them for their picture to be taken. Bring your completed order form with you if you plan to order pictures.

GROUPS HAVING THEIR PICTURES TAKEN ON PICTURE DAY:

  • Students need to make sure they bring their complete uniform!
  • Order forms for team pictures are available in the school office.

Grandparents Day

DSC_0070Grandparents day is just a couple weeks away! Westlake Christian Academy is looking forward to having as many of our students’ grandparents as possible visit us on Friday, September 25th. It is a great morning of celebrating our students and their grandparents. Click below to register your child’s grandparents for this event. Even if they aren’t able to be with us, please provide their contact information so we can send them a small token of appreciation.

Bylaws Update

Convention-WCAOver the past several weeks, the WCA Board of Trustees and several parents, faculty, and staff members have been revising the existing WCA Constitution and Bylaws to support the pending ACSI accreditation. During the past week, both the Board and WCA Faculty/Staff Assembly have approved the proposed amendments. As WCA parents, it is now your responsibility to review and vote to ratify these revisions.

We understand there is a lot of information to absorb during this process and many parents may have questions regarding these proposed amendments. For this reason, we have scheduled the ratification process to take place over the next two weeks. We believe that this allows for adequate time for prayerful review and response to any questions or clarifications.

Since voting must be done in person (one vote per family regardless of number of students), we have scheduled the voting process to begin at the All-School Picnic on September 12th with an additional provisional voting period afterward to accommodate families that cannot attend the picnic.

It is absolutely critical that all WCA families participate in this process.

Thur., Sept. 10th:

Open Q & A session at 6:30 pm in the WCA Conference Room

Sat., Sept. 12th:

Formal parent voting on the Constitution and Bylaws amendments at the All-School Picnic.

Mon., Sept. 14th:

Start of extended parent voting period for those who could not attend the Picnic. Please stop in the office to vote.

Fri., Sept. 18th:

Closure of the extended parent voting period.

The WCA Parents Association would love to stay connected with your families over the summer. Come join us for some summer fun at the following activities:

June 3rd Join your WCA friends at Tastee Freeze from 11 am to 1 pm
July TBD Movie Night at WCA. Bring your own picnic and the Parents Association will supply the movie and popcorn.
August 12th Culvers Night. Join us for dinner from 5-8 pm

Where in the world is the WCA Eagle?

If you are planning on taking a trip this summer, stop by WCA and pick up a WCA Eagle to go with you. Take a picture of the Eagle having fun on your trip and email the pictures to [email protected]. We will be creating a photo album in the Parents Association Facebook group for everyone to see how much fun the WCA Eagle is having this summer!

Bundled School Supplies

The Parents Association is working on offering bundled school supplies by grade for the 2015/16 school year. We hope to have this information to you soon, so stay tuned for more details
